Embeddings

AI converts every sentence into a list of numbers called a vector. Words with similar meanings get similar numbers — even if spelled completely differently.

Distance

To find matches, AI calculates the mathematical distance between your query's vector and each document's vector. Closer = more relevant.

Retrieval (RAG)

This is how Chat with PDF works. It finds the closest text chunks in your document and sends them to the AI to answer your question.

AI doesn't search for letters — it searches for concepts. "Hungry" and "pizza" share zero letters, but AI knows they're related because they appear in similar contexts during training. This is why AI search feels like it "gets" what you mean.
