Turn Raw Data into Polished Spreadsheets

Go from messy CSVs and numbers to formatted Excel files with formulas — without touching a formula bar.

The Problem

You have data — maybe a CSV export, a list of numbers from a report, or a pile of receipts you need to tally. You need it in a clean spreadsheet with totals, averages, charts, or pivot-style summaries. But you don't remember Excel formulas and formatting takes forever.

How AI Helps

AI can build spreadsheets for you. The newest approach is desktop AI agents that work directly with your local files — no uploading, no copy-pasting. You describe what you need, and it creates a real .xlsx file on your computer with formulas, formatting, and structure.

Tips

  • Be explicit about the formulas you want. "Add a total row" is vague — "Add a SUM formula in row 50 that totals column C" gets better results.
  • If you need the same report every month, save the prompt. Next time you just swap in the new data file.
  • Ask the AI to add conditional formatting (color-coding) for quick visual scanning — e.g., "highlight any cell in column D over $1,000 in red."

Watch out

  • Always spot-check formulas in AI-generated spreadsheets before sharing them. A wrong SUM range or misplaced formula can produce convincing but incorrect numbers.
  • Be careful uploading financial data to cloud-based AI tools. Desktop agents like Cowork process locally, but browser-based tools send your data to their servers.
  • AI-generated charts are a starting point. For client-facing presentations, you'll usually want to refine labels, colors, and formatting manually.
